Opus Business Energy Profile: Tariffs & Reviews

For their good customer service record and historically low prices, Opus has won multiple awards. These include “Utilities Provider of the Year” at the British Small Business Awards, and the “Innovation in Business” award at The Real IT Awards

Key features:

Opus Energy Reviews

Opus Energy is rated average among customer reviews online.

Here’s a breakdown of their ratings across different review platforms:

  • Trustpilot – they have a 2.5/5 star rating based on over 1,000 reviews
  • Review Centre – they have a 1.2/5 star rating based on over 250 reviews

Opus Energy has also been compared to other suppliers for complaints handling:

  • Citizens Advice – Opus Energy was ranked 7th in a table of 16 ranking non-domestic energy suppliers for complaints handling.

How these ratings compare

Opus has an average 2.5/5 star rating on Trustpilot and a poor 1.5/5 star rating on Review Centre. As a comparison, British Gas (one of the big six) has a 3.5/5 rating on Trustpilot and Bulb Energy (a small supplier) has a 5/5 star rating on TrustPilot.

The Citizens Advice data tells us Opus ranks below E.ON, Contract Natural Gas, SSE, EDF, Utility Warehouse, and Total Gas & Power for complaints handling, but above British Gas, Scottish Power, Npower, and Utilita.

Overall, Opus Energy is a trustworthy utility company, but there’s a negative lean with customer reviews that you’ll need to consider.

The biggest counterweight for the negative reviews is they do have a UK based customer service team and contacting them is easy by phone or email. The energy supplied by Opus is also 100% renewable, making them an eco-friendly choice.
